Atty. Giorgio Berlingieri

Giorgio Berlingieri pursued Maritime Law studies at the London University College in 1973, year in which he also graduated from the Faculty of Law of the University of Genoa with a thesis on “Safe ports and safe berths in time charters and voyage charters”. He continued his studies in Maritime Law at the New York University, at Tulane University, New Orleans, and at the University of California, Los Angeles, and in International Law at Berkeley University, Oakland, San Francisco. He is the President of the Italian Maritime Law Association, Vice President Honoris Causa of the Comité Maritime International and President of its nominating committee, a Vice President for Italy of Instituto Iberoamericano de Derecho Maritimo, Honorary Member of the Croatian Maritime Law Association and Member of the Arbitration Board of CONFITARMA, the Italian Shipowners Confederation. He is Editor in Chief of the Quarterly II Diritto Marittimo, a Member of the Contributory Board of Le Droit Maritime Français, of Rivista del Diritto della Navigazione, and of the Editorial Board of European Transport Law. He is an Advocate to the Italian Supreme Court of Cassation and Of Counsel at ADVANT-Nctm with practice in wet and dry shipping.

His areas of special interest are salvage, towage, collision, arrest of ships, forced sale, foreclosure of mortgages, charter-parties, carriage of goods by sea, commercial litigation and arbitration.
